London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·

Batten disease is a group of rare, progressive neurodegenerative, genetic metabolic diseases that occur in children & adults worldwide. The BDFA's Vision is to be the central point of excellence in the UK for supporting affected families funding research into a potential cure.

Story

I am running the London Marathon on 21st April 2024 for Batten Disease Family Association (BDFA). Batten Disease is an Inherited Neurodegenerative Disorder, which has closely affected a family very close to me, the O'Connors. Lily was diagnosed with Batten Disease aged 7. I grew up with Lil, often looking after her when she was younger. Gorgeous Lily sadly died in April 2023 aged just 21. I will be running in her memory, raising awareness of Batten Disease, fundraising for BDFA to support families like Lily's.
