Story
This Summer, I'm a Hiker!
In memory of my big brother Tom, I’m taking on two epic hiking challenges to raise money for Wiltshire Mind, a great local charity that provides vital support for people struggling with their mental well-being.
🌄 Challenge 1: Peak District Ultra Challenge
June 28th
100 km (62 miles) | 2,150 metres of ascent | within 24 hours
This is going to be a real test of endurance - mile after mile through the beautiful landscapes of the Peak District. It’s long and slightly bonkers…
🏔️ Challenge 2: The National Three Peaks Challenge
September 13th
42 km (26 miles) | 3,000 metres of ascent | within 24 hours
One day. Three countries. The highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike), and Wales (Snowdon). Expecting it to be brutal.
Progress update…
It's been quite the journey so far:
🐄 Scary cows
🥾 Three pairs, actually no, four pairs of boots and still blisters
🥵 Sunburn, soggy socks, and lots of Hula Hoops
Challenge 1 - destroyed me!! 255 km of training hikes, however, it was tough stuff on the day!! Regretfully tapped out at 53 out of 100 km with gnarly blisters from ~38km and a dodgy hip. Happy with that - the furthest i have ever walked!! 😊
Challenge 2 - one day to go! I’m not quite where I hoped to be with hill training or blister recovery - but I am stubborn and excited to give it my best.
How You Can Help
