My Story: 106km for Granny & Macmillan
In May 2026, I will be attempting to run the entire 106km (66 miles) perimeter of the Isle of Wight in one go. This is the IOW Ultra Challenge, and it involves over 2,000 meters of climb, coastal paths, and running through the night.
I’ve chosen this "brutal" distance for a very personal reason.
Recently, my family has been navigating the hardest of times. My granny is currently battling terminal cancer, and seeing her strength has been life-changing. Throughout this journey, Macmillan Cancer Support has been an absolute lifeline.
Why am I running?
106km is a long way, and there will be moments where I want to stop. But those miles are nothing compared to the daily challenges faced by those living with cancer. I want to raise as much as possible to ensure that when another family receives a terminal diagnosis, they have a Macmillan nurse or advisor to turn to, just like we did.
Where your money goes:
£30 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for one hour.
£60 could help run a Macmillan information and support center for an hour.
£100 could help a person with cancer manage the costs of their treatment.
Every penny donated will keep my legs moving as I head toward that 106km finish line at Chale. Thank you for your support, your love, and for helping me give back to a charity that means the world to my family.
