After a recent library audit it has been identified that the current school library at Derry Hill Primary School is not currently a reflection of our broad and varied curriculum. Many of the books in the current library are either damaged or out of date and therefore not in line with the current curriculum, world and social affairs or interests of the children using the library. The current shelving is outdated and many shelves are inaccessible to children of primary school age and size. The current environment is uninspiring and lacks comfortable seating, and as such does not provide an environment which is conducive to promoting a love of reading.

This library project is estimated to cost us over £8000. Thank-you to everyone for your generous donations making our initial target of £1300 possible. We have now submitted our application for local match funding. We have updated our target to the £8000 we need to purchase the fundamentals for our school library.
