Story
I’m running the Hampton Court Half Marathon to raise funds for School Food Matters, an incredible charity working to improve the quality of food children receive at school.
Healthy food in schools is not a nice to have. For many children, the meal they receive at school is the most reliable meal of their day. If that food is poor quality or lacking in nutrients, it affects their ability to learn, focus, and thrive, and shapes their health for years to come.
School Food Matters works on the front line to improve school meals, increase access to fresh and nutritious food, and help children understand where food comes from and why it matters, particularly in communities where access to good food is limited.
Over the last year, I have seen first hand how powerful good nutrition can be. Training for this run, eating better quality food has helped me recover faster, train more consistently, and build resilience. It played a key role in my recovery after snapping my Achilles at the start of 2025 and in preparing for this challenge, with a goal of 1 hour 40 minutes.
Food is not just fuel. It affects how we heal, how we perform, and how we feel every day. That is as true for a runner as it is for a child trying to get through a school day.
If you are able to donate or share this, it would mean a great deal. Every contribution helps support healthier food for children and a healthier future for the next generation.
Thank you for the support.
