Businesses from across Blackpool and the Fylde Coast are invited to enter the mixed five-a-side event which takes place on Saturday December 9.
The Big Food Project working with Blackpool Food Bank delivers food to over 80 individual Food Banks across the Fylde Coast each week.
In Blackpool alone, to feed all the children living in poverty would amount for 3 million meals each year.
In partnership with supermarkets, wholesalers and food manufacturers the Big Food Bank collected in more than 250 tonnes of food that would ordinarily have gone to land fill or recycling last year alone. This resulted in more than 560,000 meals being distributed to partner Food Banks and Hubs feeding more than 10,000 people in crisis each week.
Every £10 collected enables 24 meals to be delivered to those in greatest need – and every penny raised in the tournament and fundraising initiatives on the day, will make a difference.
Sustainable Talent founder Mhari-Claire Doolan said: “It's heart breaking to know that not only are there so many children going without meals but this is happening right on our doorstep. The tournament is the beginning of a long term partnership to support a Charity that does so much good in our local area!"
"Our tournament next month, also gives other businesses and friendship groups the opportunity to contribute and we hope to raise lots of money for a great cause.”
