Jake's fundraiser for WWT

Jake Bridge is raising money for WWT
In memory of Thomas Edward Bridge

Lake district Three peak challenge

We are WWT the wetland restoration charity. We’re on a mission to restore wetlands because they are a wondrous solution to the problems our world faces. Together we will unlock their power – and help nature burst back to life. Because when wetlands flourish, all life will flourish.

Story

In Memory of Thomas Edward Bridge

A loving husband, Grandpops, and Great Grandpops to many.

Tom passed away on 28 September 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer, fighting until the very end.

As we approach the second anniversary of his passing, I wanted to take on a challenge in his memory while raising money for a charity that was close to his heart: The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT).

WWT is a conservation charity dedicated to protecting wetlands and the wildlife that depend on them. Their work helps restore and preserve vital habitats, supports endangered species, and inspires future generations to appreciate the natural world.

My grandpops' favourite place to visit was Martin Mere. I have many fond memories of days spent there with him and my dad. He had a genuine love for wildlife, especially birds, and was never happ

ier than when he was outdoors enjoying nature. Supporting WWT feels like the perfect way to honour his memory and celebrate something that meant so much to him.

The Challenge

To raise money for WWT, I will be taking on the Lake District Three Peaks Challenge, completing all three mountains back to back in a single day:

Scafell Pike – 978m (3,210 ft), England's highest mountain

Helvellyn – 950m (3,114 ft)

Skiddaw – 931m (3,053 ft)

This will be a physically demanding challenge, covering thousands of metres of ascent and many hours on the mountains.

Every donation, no matter how small, will help support the incredible work of WWT while honouring the memory of a man who loved of the outdoors.

In memory of Thomas Edward Bridge.
