London to Brighton Bike Ride 2024 · 16 June 2024 ·

Teddy’s Wish raises funds for potentially life saving research into the causes of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome), neonatal death and stillbirth and provides bereavement support for grieving families.

Story

Why am I doing this?

I am Cycling the 2024 London to Brighton Bike Ride in honour of Lucas Ikua Davide, my first born child who was born sleeping on 22nd November 20221.

While the time we spent together was short, I loved him as much as a father can.

I imagine him as a smart boy, with a great taste in music and a passion for dinosaurs and videogames. A boy who would have loved a great deal playing with his little brother Anthony and exploring this crazy world together with his dad.

Wherever you are now, know that you are loved and remembered and that we value every second we spent together.

About Teddy's Wish

I decided to donate to Teddy's Wish because of the help they gave us in such a tough time.

Not many people in my circle could understand the pain of losing your child in such an unexpected and meaningless way, out of a complication nobody could notice.

In these moments even the warm embraces of friends and family seem cold and you are left with just grief and anger toward the world. It's there that some small acts from people who understand what you are going through can make a huge difference.

Some quotes from Teddy's Wish website https://www.teddyswish.org/

We believe that no parent should ever suffer the loss of their child from SIDS, stillbirth or neonatal death. Those that do need all the love and support they can get. They also need practical help and advice. And the reassurance that research is happening to help better understand and prevent it. It's for these reasons that we started Teddy’s Wish.

We set up Teddy’s Wish to give hope, help and support to other grieving families and to fund research into the causes of baby loss. As a small, volunteer-run charity, we’re driven by doing something meaningful in Edward’s honour. Our vision is that in the future, there will be no more grieving parents of tiny, perfect babies. Together with your support and generosity, we believe that vision is achievable.
