The charity Eyehope was formed in 2007 by a group of leading London ophthalmologists. Our Trustees and volunteers are passionate about improving the treatment and care for eye disease. Eyehope funds research into all causes of sight loss.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am raising money on behalf of Eyehope in memory of my late mother Margaret Rose Davis who lost her sight to glaucoma.

My mother's hobbies were gardening, reading and painting - she was unable to continue these the way she had formerly, due to losing her sight and this impacted on her life in its entirety. Not being able to see led to frequent falls and accidents which eventually affected her mobility and she became housebound and wholly reliant on others where formerly she had been an independent person who liked to go out of the house every day. If her glaucoma had been caught earlier the decline in her sight could have been arrested and kept at bay.

My mother's consultant ophthalmologist at St Thomas' Hospital, Dr Sancy Low, will work with Eyehope and use any donations raised to start a piece of work called 'For Margaret, Vision Together' - this work will aim to remember her journey and fund more education programmes in improving the eye health of others.
