Story
On the 19th June 2023, my dad passed away from sudden heart failure at only 51 years old. This was devastating with huge disbelief after going out for a lovely family meal on Father’s Day. Little did we know our world was going to be turned upside down several hours later. My Dad was terribly scared and in a lot of pain, something which my family can never forget. He didn’t give up and fought until the very end. Sadly, the ambulances took 66 minutes to reach us after our initial call to 999. My amazing granny performed CPR when my dad went into cardiac arrest, which she had to do for 6 minutes before the paramedics finally arrived. We will always be left with the question, would dad still be here if the ambulance arrived earlier?
My Dad was the most thoughtful and caring person, and would do anything for anybody. We all miss him so much, every single day and wish for nothing more than him to come home.
On the 27th January 2024 my Boyfriend Harry and I have chosen to complete the 26 mile winter walk challenge in memory of the most amazing Dad. He used to always tell me how lazy I am, so I am determined to complete this challenge to make him proud, and raise money for a local charity who aim to keep young hearts healthy.
They raise money to be able to provide free ECG screenings to those aged 14-35. This amazing charity managed to fit myself and my brother in to one of their screening days at very short notice, to give ourselves and our mum peace of mind following the loss of our Dad.
Any donation, big or small will be greatly appreciated to help keep Young Hearts Healthy.
