Story
On Sunday 13th September, I am taking on the AJ Bell Great North Run—a 13.1-mile half marathon—to raise vital funds for the incredible team at the Leeds Centre for Neonatal/NICU Care.
This challenge is deeply personal. My sister Holly and her partner Aaron recently welcomed their two beautiful twin boys into the world. Born incredibly early at just 23 weeks and 5 days gestation, my two tiny nephews, Georgie and Marley are Preemies and are currently in the Leeds NICU ward, receiving round-the-clock intensive care.
Watching Holly and Aaron stay so strong while Georgie and Marley fight hard every single day has inspired me to do everything I can to support them.
The dedication, expertise, and absolute love provided by the doctors and nurses in Leeds is nothing short of miraculous. They don't just care for the babies; they support the entire family through the most difficult times.
I want to give back to the wards that are doing everything to keep my nephews safe and thriving. Every penny raised via Leeds Hospitals Charity will go directly toward specialized neonatal equipment, family support services, and advanced care packages for premature infants.
Please donate if you can, and help me run these miles for Holly, Aaron, and my two incredibly brave little nephews, Georgie and Marley.
Thank you so much for your support 💙
Update - 5th September
It is with the heaviest hearts imaginable that we share some utterly devastating and deeply heartbreaking news. Our beautiful, brave little nephews, Georgie and Marley, have gained their angel wings.
After fighting so hard in the Leeds NICU ward, Georgie passed away peacefully at 1pm on September 3rd. Just hours later, at 5am on September 4th, his brother Marley followed him. They both took their final breaths held closely in the arms of their loving mummy and daddy.
We are completely broken by this unimaginable loss. Yet, even in our darkest moments, we remain profoundly grateful for the love, dignity, and round-the-clock care provided by the doctors and nurses at the Leeds Centre for Neonatal Care. They gave our family the chance to hold, love, and spend precious, magical moments with our boys.
Next Sunday, September 13th, I will still be running the Great North Run. But I am no longer just running to support their fight—I am running in absolute honor and loving memory of Georgie and Marley. Every single step will be for them, and every penny raised will still go directly to the Leeds NICU to help other families facing the unimaginable.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the incredible generosity and support you have shown Holly, Aaron, and our family during this time. Please keep them in your thoughts 💙💙
Funds to be directed specifically to the Leeds Centre for Newborn Care / Neonatal NICU Wards
