I'm raising money for the Forget Me Not Fund, a charity that offers vital support to parents coping with the heartbreak of baby loss. Their work helps families navigate the overwhelming grief that follows such a devastating experience.
This fund includes the upkeep of bereavement suites across Hampshire Hospitals, comfort packs and books, specialist bereavement counselling, holistic therapies for postnatal recovery, funding online support for miscarriage , TFMR, stillbirth and neonatal death. They are also the main sponsor for the local SANDS united team for Dads of which I am a player.
Last year, Jasmine and I faced the unimaginable when we lost our beautiful twins. At 12 weeks we found out we were having twins and we were stunned to say the least, then came the end of the 16th week of Jasmine being pregnant we found out Evie had Edward’s syndrome which would limit her lifespan drastically, Noah was healthy and growing at the normal rate. On the day the twins were born we spent 99 love filled minutes with our beautiful Evie as she had passed away in Jasmines arms. Noah was the shining light that was meant to make the world of pain after losing Evie more bearable until, when he was only 15 days old, he fell unexpectedly ill. We took him to the doctor and were quickly rushed to resus at Basingstoke hospital where he would undergo tests and receive treatment. During our time in resus the doctors said he would need to go to John Radcliffe hospital as they specialise in paediatric care. After arriving in Oxford Noah underwent more tests and was being monitored very closely. We found out that he had delayed onset group B strep which has caused sepsis, at this moment we knew we were fighting an up hill battle. While he was being treated for the infections he had a head scan which revealed he had irreversible brain damage across most of his brain. At this moment we knew that our worst fear had come true and that we would lose our little ray of light. Noah passed away back at the butterfly suite in Basingstoke hospital in mine and Jasmine’s arms. The pain of that loss is something we carry with us every day.The Forget Me Not Fund was there, providing comfort, understanding, and guidance when we needed it most.
Now, we want to give back. By raising money for this incredible cause, we hope to ensure that no family has to face this kind of loss alone. Your support can make a real difference.
To honour our twins and raise money for this vital cause, Me, my Dad, my brother, and my best friend are cycling from John Radcliffe Hospital to Basingstoke Hospital — two places deeply connected to our journey.
