Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide exists to meet the needs and break the isolation of those impacted by a suicide loss. We provide a safe and confidential environment in which bereaved people can share their experiences and feelings, so that no one bereaved by suicide has to face their loss alone.

Story

This is a very personal fundraising challenge for me having sadly lost both my Mum & my Uncle to suicide.

On the 29th November, my Mum's birthday, I will be starting my challenge of running the distance from where I live in Bridgwater to my home city of Aberdeen. A total distance of 680 miles will take me home to my Mum & my Uncle. I will be running the challenge locally, finishing on the 29th march, the anniversary of when I lost my Mum & 13 years to the day. I will be running 6.5 miles a day, 6 days a week over the 4 months.

I have set myself the target of raising Β£5000 which is what it will cost for the charity to set up just one new support group. Your support in helping me to reach my target would mean the world to me. Any donations, no matter how big or small will make a massive difference.

Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SoBS) is a national charity that provides support to people over the age of 18 impacted by suicide. The mission of SoBS is to provide free peer support to adults bereaved by suicide in a timely and open-ended manner and their vision is that no one bereaved by suicide has to face their loss alone.

I know first hand how scary the world can be when you lose someone you love to suicide. Suicide was and still is a very hard subject to talk about. Talking about mental heath & suicide prevention is now more widely discussed but there is not much talk about the families that are left behind. Knowing someone you love chose to end their own life is a pain that you will never be able to put into words, it's not something you can ever get over, but in time you learn to live with it.

In running this challenge I want to raise awareness for those who are left behind. I wish to help others get the support they need in what is an incredibly scary & lonely time & in doing so also honour my Mum & Uncle's memory.

I will be tracking my journey through my Forget Me Not Run Instagram page for anyone who wants to follow me for updates.

Please support me in raising as much money and awareness as possible for an amazing charity very close to my heart.
