Ultra White Collar Boxing · 16 March 2024

Story

On the 16th of March I will be competing in a charity boxing match, aiming to raise money for the charity Friends of The Congo.

Ongoing conflict between militant groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo for territory and resources have resulted in:

- Child Slavery (Congolese children are used to mine precious resources such as colbalt, diamonds, copper, coltan etc. Congo is considered to have to world’s richest natural resources).

- Displacement of the Congolese from their homes

- Sexual violence (192 women raped everyday)

- Destruction of the Congo Rainforest (the 2nd largest rainforest in the world)

Friends of The Congo work with partners to help the Congolese people by:

- Rescuing children from colbalt mines.

- Providing food and clean water for those displaced by the war.

- Caring for women who have been sexually assaulted, providing healthcare for potential STDs.

Having never boxed before, I am excited to learn and utilise a new skill whilst also given the opportunity to improve the lives of others who are struggling else where.

All donations will be greatly appreciated, big or small:) thank you for taking the time to read about this fundraiser also!
