Story

Getting Peanut Back On His Paws!

With his appealing looks and amiable nature, Peanut is a young chap who truly cherishes human interaction. He came to his fosterer, Kim, with his siblings, Poppy and Pepper, when they were a couple of months old, in September 2024. After a short while in care, Kim noticed that Peanut seemed to have a problem with the movement of his back legs.

The vet recommended that Peanut be carefully monitored during his period of rapid growth. He later underwent x-rays which revealed that he was suffering from developmental problems in his hip joints (hip dysplasia) plus changes to his knees, which was leading to stiffness in his back legs. The vet prescribed pain relief to help Peanut move more comfortably.

Peanut has since undergone some initial orthopedic surgery to improve the movement of his back legs, and his mobility has shown significant improvement. His dedicated fosterer has carefully supervised his post-op rehabilitation and recovery.

Peanut is a wonderful young cat who loves cuddles. He brings a smile to the most serious individual, and his fosterer says time passes so quickly just watching and playing with him.

Peanut is now ready to be adopted. He may need further surgical treatment for his condition as he gets older, and it is important to build up his muscles to help with the condition. A home in easy reach of Debenham, in Suffolk, would, therefore, be ideal so that he can have regular checkups with his veterinary consultant. Future costs, relating to his condition, will be covered by the branch.

We hope to raise £4,000 to help recover the cost of Peanut’s medical expenses. Amounts raised above this figure will go towards helping other cats in the care of Cats Protection Framlingham and Saxmundham. We will be extremely grateful for any amount you can donate.
