Story
In May 2020 Sophie was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia aged 6 years old. She has had a rough 3 years but is now thankfully doing really well and is approaching 1 year of being in remission!
To mark 1 year of being in remission Sophie would really like to raise some money to give a little back to the charity 'Logan's Fund'. She has chosen to do a 5k inflatable obstacle course in Edinburgh on September the 9th.
This will be a challenge for Sophie. During her treatment she lost all ability to walk or even sit up in bed, she was wheelchair bound for months. Over the last couple of years and with the support of physio, occupational therapy and her own sheer determination, she has learnt to walk again and now there's no stopping her! She is still building her strength back up and struggles with aches and pains in her legs but she is determined to set herself a wee challenge to raise some money for a charity that means a lot to us. We know times are tough for everyone but if you can spare a few pennies it would be hugely appreciated and make a little girl very happy!!
Logan's Fund are amazing. They aim to provide anything that will give a cause for optimism, or a focus away from hospital and beyond the treatment they are going through, for any child and their family affected by cancer. Their philosophy is to try and win back some of the childhood lost to time in hospital.
Logan's Fund gifted Sophie a drysuit when having her hickman line meant she couldn't go swimming... something she loved and really missed. This made the world of difference to Sophie who could then go swimming all the time, bodyboarding, paddle boarding etc. It really helped increase her mood and her strength.
Our dog Alfie passed away midway through Sophie's treatment. He was Sophie's protector, always by her side and she told him everything. He knew more of her worries than anyone else and when he passed away she was distraught and completely lost. Due to the nature of her treatment, it wasn't safe to bring new animals into our home but once Sophie's hickman line was removed in December 2022, Logan's fund were there to gift us our puppy, Dougie. This was through their puppy programme, a magical gift that they provide lots of children with.
They also have their 'Always a Rainbow' scheme. This fantastic scheme gives children the chance to take part in activities that treatment may have prevented them from doing. The programme is driven by the children and young people who take part in it and what they want to do. Logan's fund help make it happen!
Finally they have their 'Logan's Sunny Day's' caravan on the beach in Lossiemouth, where we have recently enjoyed a stay. They went above and beyond to ensure we had the best week. Nothing is ever too much for them and we are forever grateful.
"If we can bring a smile, help make hospital just a little bit easier or help form a future goal we will do everything we can to make it happen. Logan is a rainbow in our sky and we hope we can bring some of those colours into yours.
Logan's Fund - doing the things Logan and his family would have loved, in his memory."
Thank you xx
