Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In March 2023, my family sadly lost my cousin Will to a brain tumour. During Will's time at Addenbrooke's Hospital, his parents, my aunt and uncle, were fortunate to stay at Acorn House, one of The Sick Children's Trust’s 10 'homes from home". This allowed them to have somewhere comfortable to stay whilst being minutes away from Will. For £40, the charity can provide a room for the night for parents at an extremely tough time whilst their child is unwell in hospital.
I have decided to complete two triathlons this year in memory of Will to fundraise for The Sick Children's Trust, to help them continue their fantastic service. Having never completed a triathlon before, I will first complete an olympic distance triathlon at the Burghley multi-sports weekend on the 11th May. I will then bump up my training ready for a Half Ironman in Germany on the 7th September. Having started training in January, I will be spending 9 months of this year training a minimum of 6 times a week, and spending most of my spare time either in the pool, on a bike or running! This will be as much a mental challenge as it is a physical one due to my fear of open water!
I have been starting some training runs and cycles from work at Papworth Hospital (next door to Addenbrooke’s), and I have been doing my swim training at the onsite sports centre, which happens to be right next door to Acorn House. This has been and will continue to provide me with a great boost of motivation as I complete my training. My strava account is linked to this page if you would like to keep up with what I am doing, and I will most likely share updates on my Instagram and Facebook pages, so keep an eye out!
A huge thank you in advance for helping with my fundraising, and keeping Will’s memory alive.
