Story

Running for Lyme Disease UK – London Landmarks Half Marathon 💚

13.1 miles for a cause incredibly close to my heart.

I am so proud and grateful to be taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money and awareness for Lyme Disease UK.

In 2011, my mum was bitten by a tick, and between 2013 and 2020, her health declined to the point where she was practically bedbound. There was a time when I couldn’t remember her without crutches. To this day, she continues to face challenges, but I am incredibly proud of how far she has come and everything she has overcome, following countless operations, specialist appointments and her cocktail of medication.

Lyme disease has had a lasting impact on my mum and our family. I want to turn that personal experience into something positive by raising awareness and supporting others affected by this illness. There is still so much more awareness needed, and I hope to play a small part in changing that.

🏃🏼‍♀️ This is a huge personal challenge for me. I have never run further than 10k. Although I participate in several HYROX events, taking on 13.1 miles will push me far beyond my comfort zone. I wanted to do something that truly mattered to me — something bigger than just a running achievement.

Being given the opportunity to represent Lyme Disease UK at the London Landmarks Half Marathon means more to me than words can explain. Knowing that Lyme Disease UK wasn’t originally on the event’s charity list makes this opportunity even more special. I am incredibly grateful to have the chance to give this cause a platform and help share our story.

Every training run and every mile on race day will be for a cause so close to home.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will mean the world. Your support will help Lyme Disease UK continue raising awareness and supporting people affected by Lyme disease.

If you cannot donate, sharing my page would mean just as much.

I am running for my family, for everyone affected by Lyme disease, and for a future where this illness is better understood.

13.1 miles. One personal challenge. Every step for a reason. 💚

Thank you so much for your support.
