Journeying in Hope

Francis Madden is raising money for Stories of Hope and Home

Vezelay to Santiago de Compostela

We have two aims: To bring together people with lived experience of seeking asylum: to create safe spaces to build community and to explore and process their experiences. To facilitate encounters and share stories: promoting learning, challenging misconceptions and inspiring action.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Francis and Helena Madden set off on Palm Sunday on a pilgrim journey of over 2000km from Vézelay in France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. They are cycling on a tandem with a trailer, following as closely as possible the Way of St. James, an ancient Christian pilgrimage route, whilst also raising awareness of and funds for the work of the local charity "Stories of Hope and Home”.

We are about to return to Santiago after completing the Camino extension route to the coast at Muxía and Fisterra (the end of the world!) and we hope to be back home in a week or so.

Throughout our Journey of Hope we will be posting pictures to Facebook at

There will be one or two more updates covering the last stages of our journey.

Thank you everyone for your generous support.
