RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

2023 marks 20 years that I have been an active RNLI fundraising volunteer.

To celebrate, I am raising funds to commission and install a City of London blue plaque to commemorate the RNLI's first national HQ at 12 Austin Friars, London EC2. This will be unveiled next year, the RNLI's 200th Anniversary.

Any funds left over will support the RNLI's Tower Lifeboat Station, which serves the City of London, is 21 years old this year, is the busiest station in the entire RNLI network and has only recently carried out its 10,000th mission. To date, it has saved over 380 lives.

My challenge is to take part in the famous International 4 Days' Marches in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. This will require me to walk 40km per day for 4 consecutive days for a total of 160km (99.4 miles).

Please support my effort and help raise funds to provide an important reminder of this piece of RNLI and City of London history. It will, over time, also help raise the profile of the RNLI in the City of London and boost continuing fundraising and awareness work for Tower Lifeboat Station.

Thank you.
