The aims of the Bloom Appeal are: 1. Support the care and well-being of patients with blood cancers 2. Fund and invest in scientific research into treating and curing leukaemias, lymphomas and other blood cancers 3. Make a difference for blood cancer patients in the Merseyside and surrounding areas.

Story

In December 2025 Frank will celebrate 40 years of fundraising in the cause of blood cancers, and he wants to do it in style with the Santa Dash.

Muriel Gait was his mother-in-law. She had a blood disorder and passed away in 1985 after receiving 14 years wonderful treatment from the Royal Liverpool Hospital. Frank was inspired to set up The Haemanthus Fund to help research into blood cancers at the University of Liverpool, chairing the group throughout, surpassing all of it's targets. He is a co-founding trustee of The Bloom Appeal, a registered charity now called Merseyside Against Blood Cancers, supporting the care and well being of patients, and the staff and research scientists in Liverpool's world class establishments at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and the University of Liverpool.
