Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising funds to support epilepsy research and raise awareness for this often misunderstood condition. Epilepsy affects millions worldwide, including myself.
In March 2022, when I was just 16 I had my first tonic clonic seizure. I tried different medications, but after 6 months of uncontrolled seizures, I ended up in hospital after aspirating during a seizure. This caused my lung to collapse and I developed pneumonia. I spent 5 days at Kettering hospital but after multiple attempts of a chest drain, it was determined I needed Empyema surgery and was transferred to Leicester Hospital. After 11 scary and unpredictable days, I was luckily discharged.
As of November 2022, after 8 uncertain months, I am officially seizure free.
I want to contribute to the progress being made towards better treatments, understanding, and ultimately a cure, because I know what it’s like to live and suffer through the effects of having epilepsy.
