Story
Next month I will be running the Manchester Half Marathon raising money for Alzheimer’s Society.
I wanted to share as this run will be one that is very close to mine and my family’s heart.
Sadly, last November we lost my Grandad. Grandad Sandy was an incredible man, the funniest and happiest person I knew and I can say that anyone that met him would agree. In 2017 we started to notice some symptoms and in 2018, Grandad was diagnosed with Dementia. For a family who had never faced dementia before, it was incredibly difficult to deal with.
Watching my Grandad decline the way he did over the years was heartbreaking for myself and the rest of the family, which is why I am so honoured to run this Half Marathon in memory of Grandad and to help raise money for an organisation that does so much to support families through dealing with dementia and patients suffering with this disease, alongside leading research to help find ways to slow down/cure dementia.
Please, if you can, donate to help further all the amazing work that the Alzheimer’s Society does, and if you cannot donate then please share.
