Story

Iain Murray (Ma Boy)
On the 24th of May 2023 our lives were ripped apart when Iain died suddenly at home, and with no warning. He was 32 years old with no known health issues. He had everything to live for, having got married just 6 months previously, and was just enjoying life, as he always had.
We were told it was an undiagnosed cardiac issue.
Now, almost 3 years on, the pain is very much still there, and all Iain's family and friends miss him dearly. His passing has left a massive hole in our lives, one that can never be filled. We have wonderful memories, which are a comfort, but nothing can take this pain away.
By doing this run I have two goals - 1) To keep Iain's memory alive as much as possible, and 2) To raise funds for CRY, which may help to reduce the chance of other families going through what we are going though.
Iain was always there to help others and, through this, he still can!
I have been training for many months with the aim of completing the Cape Wrath 400km multiday Ultra, but it has been cancelled - so now I will be doing the Kintyre Way Ultra instead.
The following words are from the incredible charity that I have chosen to support.....
Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.
With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.
By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions.
