My name is Fred Ward-Pearson, and in March 2027 I will be undertaking a sponsored hike to Machu Picchu in Peru to raise vital funds for LOROS Hospice.

As a funeral director, I work closely with LOROS and see first-hand the extraordinary compassion, dignity, and care they provide to patients and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Their support doesn’t just help people at the end of life — it brings comfort, reassurance, and humanity to families when they need it most.

Despite the incredible work they do, LOROS faces ongoing funding challenges, which have already led to reductions in essential services. Seeing the impact of this first-hand is heartbreaking, and it is why supporting LOROS is so deeply important to me.

This trek through the Peruvian mountains will be physically demanding, but it is nothing compared to the challenges faced by the people LOROS cares for every day. I am taking on this journey in the hope of raising much-needed funds to help ensure that no family has to face these moments without the care and support they deserve.
