Freddie's Marathon Fundraiser for Grove Cottage

Freddie Hancock is raising money for Grove Cottage

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·

We provide social and educational activities for adults and children who have a learning disability. We encourage, support and nurture our members to meet and make friends, learn new things, and have fun. We also give their families and carers a much-needed break and vital respite.

Story

Unfortunately I had to pull out last minute, deferring my place to next year, due to an injury I just couldn’t shake off which left me in quite some discomfort even to walk. Thank you everyone for the donations but I will be back in 2026! 💪

This year I will be taking on the London Marathon to raise money for a what I believe to be a very worthwhile cause. They are a small local charity who do some amazing work within our community supporting people of all ages with learning disabilities and special additional needs.

Grove Cottage provides educational and social activities for people of all ages with learning disabilities and special additional needs; to help them develop their potential, avoid social isolation by supporting lifelong friendships, and to provide respite for their families.

The funds raised will help to support the vital services, clubs and activities that Grove Cottage provides for children and adults with learning disabilities in the local area. It costs around £500,000 to run Grove Cottage each year and although the charity are affiliated with The Royal Mencap Society they receive no funding from the national body.

Thank you!
