Ultra cycling event · 24 May 2024

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

I’m coming out of my social media hibernation because by the end of Monday 27th May I'll hopefully be well on the way to finishing my latest epic challenge and would love (read: need) your support! Please read how you can help or skip to the bottom for the important bit.

In short: Im doing a challenge and it'll be really hard, I have chosen to take on this challenge. People living with cancer do not have a choice to the challenge they face and having their world turned upside down. If you feel interested, inspired or just confused on why im doing this then please donate and share!

The challenge: All Points North, a 1,000km cycling event between 10 checkpoints in the North of England, self supported in under 72hours. In December I signed up to what will be my first, and likely last, ‘Ultra cycling’ race starting 24th May. My sporting curiosity and appetite for a challenge has led me to try new things and this is no different. I found and entered this event with nothing but self motivation to try something new and see how I can push myself. I’ve since realised that if people have some interest in my challenge then that exposure can be used to do some good!

How you can help: Exposure and donations to a great cause.

1 in 2 people will develop some form of cancer in their lifetime is the current alarming statistic from British Journal of Cancer and Cancer Research UK. It’s a statistic that seemed so far away from those close to me until it wasn't. No details are needed other I am sure everyone I know has in some way been affected by cancer. This is why i've decided that choosing to tackle an epic challenge is a great way to raise awareness and money for Pancreatic Cancer UK because people living with or affected by cancer don't get a choice to take on the challenge they face.

So if the prospect of riding 1000km barely stopping is intriguing or appalling then please follow and share my journey as well as donate though my Just Giving page. If everyone on my socials gave just £1 - probably the price of a Fredo by now - thats £1000 to a fantastic cause and that matches the 1000km I will be taking on Friday 24th May. The donations will go directly to Pancreatic Cancer UK to fund research and raise awareness for a deadly cancer that is often discovered far too late but doesnt currently receive the same level of attention or funding as other forms of cancer.

As well as donating if you please share my Just Giving page and updates on social media then more exposure = more donations which is ultimately the aim.

I will be pestering over the next few weeks and nearer the time a tracking link will be provided so you can watch my race unfold realtime, day or night, how fun.

Let's do this.

Thanks for reading x
