Hi, I’m Freddie, a student at Durham Uni and I'm taking on this year’s London Marathon in April. Although I’ve ran a few half-marathons, this will certainly be my biggest challenge to date, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be running for such a special cause - READY charity.

READY (Recreation and Easy Access for Disabled Youth) is an amazing volunteer-led charity that raises money to help young people with disabilities play sport and take part in healthy activities for fun and fitness. Through READY, hundreds of children have been provided with grants that enable them to access sporting activities and equipment that has been tailored to their individual needs. READY’s fantastic work has drawn the attention of many sporting legends, such as Charity President John Inverdale and the likes of Gary Lineker, Jason Leonard and Angus Fraser serving as Patrons.

READY is very close to my heart as my late grandfather Colin Herridge was a founding Trustee and previous chairman of the charity, an organisation that he was extremely passionate about since its beginnings in 1991. These grants are truly life changing for the child and their family, with many recipients having gone on to compete at an elite level, including two Paralympian’s - Toby Gold and Kare Adenegan.

I’ve set a fundraising goal for £2500 and I would be so grateful if you could help me to reach this. Whether it’s £5 or £50, every donation truly goes a long way in raising money for such a worthwhile cause. I’ll be uploading regular updates on my training, so stay tuned.
