Connor’s Canberra Avenue to Canberra Adventure

Venture Scotland runs a unique progressive outdoor-based personal development programme over 5 months for young people aged 16-30, who face complex and difficult problems daily. We build their confidence and skills to empower each of them to reduce harmful behaviours and make positive choices.

Story

In a search for adventure and in the pursuit of living life fully, I’ve quit my job after 10 years as a teacher and school leader, packed my bags, put my stuff in a friend’s loft and grandpa’s garage and said my farewells to take on an epic challenge.

Over the next 18 months I’ll be cycling from Canberra Avenue, Clydebank 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 (my Gran and Grandpa’s street and starting point of many childhood adventures) to Canberra, Australia 🇦🇺.

For me, the outdoors have been an endless source of inspiration and empowerment throughout my life that’s why I’ve connected so well with the mission of Venture Scotland. A small Scottish based charity, they work with young adults using the outdoors to positively change their lives.

I’d be very grateful for your support to help keep me going over the tough climbs, rainy days and life questioning moments that are to come knowing that this is all for a great cause!
