FreshAir Radio is Edinburgh University's student radio station. I'm Nilufer, station manager of FreshAir, and I also volunteer with Radio Lollipop Edinburgh- it's the best part of my week! FreshAir has done a charity broadcast every Fringe Festival; this year, I've chosen Radio Lollipop as our fundraising recipient as the volunteers and the children deserve any and all help they can get to make every day easier and happier!

This wonderful charity has a simple yet powerful mission: to put play in place of pain for children in hospitals. They know that a child's imagination and joy are the best medicine, and we are honored to help them deliver on that promise. Radio Lollipop's unique service, Playdio, is delivered by a dedicated team of ward-visiting volunteers every week. These amazing individuals are the true heartbeat of the charity. As Radio Lollipop says, "if we don't turn up, we don't make a difference." Our support helps ensure that these volunteers can continue to bring laughter, music, and games to children, transforming their hospital experience into something a little more magical.

The work Radio Lolipop does do seriously changes lives and uplifts families and children during their darkest moments! Not only are they broadcasting children's favourite songs and getting them on air- which everyone at FreshAir knows is so fun- but we go around and play with the kids on every ward to brighten up their days. These donations would go towards bettering stock and being able to plan better games, and craft evenings and days out.

This Fringe, I wanted to bring the two together to raise money for Radio Lollipop through a 24 hour broadcast to raise funds! We are planning a non-stop broadcast on our student station, bringing in fun Fringe acts, music, chat and games to fill the airwaves for a non-stop day of fun!
