Story

Going over to Zambia for 8 weeks in the summer of 2025, I hope to help both netball coaches and players in order to develop netball in the area. I've been coaching netball for over 5 years now so I have seen the effect good coaching, mentoring and structure can have on the enjoyment and skill within the sport. In developing countries such as Zambia, it is vital that the coaches and leaders are helped to upskill and develop so that netball can continue to grow globally. Not only this but improvement in sport within the local community brings people together and ensures everyone has access to a healthy lifestyle and a fun hobby.

I was inspired to apply for the role of Netball Development Officer in this project not only by the amazing oppourtunity it provides and my passion for netball, but also by my Grandad Ed who used to tell me stories about his time teaching in developing countries. He was able to help children get involved with different things and make an impact on their lives. Heading into Zambia I hope I can make even half the impact he did.
