Running the Edinburgh Marathon for Myositis UK

Freya Main is raising money for Myositis UK
In memory of Christine

Edinburgh Marathon 2026 · 24 May 2026 ·

Myositis UK raises funds to promote medical research and improve diagnosis, treatment, management and understanding of Myositis including: Dermatomyositis, Polymyositis, Inclusion Body Myositis, Antisynthetase Syndrome, Necrotising Myositis (Myopathy) and Juvenile Dermatomyositis.

Story

On May 24th, I will be running the Edinburgh Marathon as my biggest challenge yet, but most importantly, to raise money for a charity that is very important to myself and my family: Myositis UK.

Myositis is the name for a group of autoimmune diseases that cause muscle weakness and can spread to other areas of the body. Sadly, as this disease currently has no cure, we lost our dear family friend, Christine, to the illness. This is what Myositis UK are fighting to prevent from happening.

They fund and promote research into the rare group of diseases, looking to improve diagnosis and treatment so that quality of life can be improved sooner.

As a small charity, they need all the donations they can get to fight against this disease, and that is what I'm aiming to do for them.

My goal is to raise £1000, all of it for the essential research Myositis UK completes. But more than anything, all of it is in Christine's memory.

Any donation, no matter how small, will help - and if you're unable, please share the page wherever you can.

Thank you so much for all your support!
