Hi my name is Freya, and I’m running the BIG 3K Run and the Junior Great North Run for a charity that is called WAG and COMPANY North East Friendship Dogs. In this charity, dogs visit the elderly to keep them company. I chose this charity as my whole life I’ve adored dogs and loved to help people out, I especially think our older generation are the heart of our community and I have big respect for them. I always feel sad to think of an old person who is lonely or some times do not speak to someone for weeks on end. Loneliness can significantly impact the elderly, increasing the risk of physical and mental health problems, memory problems, depression, and can even cause death. Wag and co help with this and visit the elderly in not only their own homes but also in care or hospitals, and they go with dogs! and we all know how our little furry best friends can brighten up our days. If anyone has any spare change, I would love if you could donate money to go towards the charity I’m running for. Every penny counts to help end loneliness in the North East 🤍
