In November 2026, I'm taking part in Child.org's Ride Africa challenge, a 500km ride across Kenya and Tanzania to raise money for life-saving work in maternal and child health. Children born in sub-Saharan Africa are 15 times more likely to die in childhood than children in Europe and North America. The earliest days of life are the most dangerous for children born in Kenya and all over Africa. This amazing charity champions community-based healthcare solutions to make pregnancies and births safer, while supporting mothers on their maternal journey.

As a mother of three boys, this cause is very important to me. I can relate to the vital importance of feeling safe, educated and supported throughout pregnancy, birth and while caring for a baby. Birth shouldn't be a lottery, and every woman, regardless of where she lives, deserves access to the healthcare that keeps mothers and babies safe. As well as raising money, I hope to raise awareness for Child.org and the incredible work that they do.

This isn't just about the miles in the saddle. I also want to show my boys that their mum is more than "just" a mum! I want them to grow up seeing that they can be strong, brave, and ambitious, and that they have the power to change the world for others.

All donations go directly to the charity, the costs for travel expenses and doing the ride will be self-funded.
