Story
We are, once again, raising money in support of Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS aakss.org.uk).
We are holding a football match in memory of Joe Markiewicz, who passed away on 18th September 2019, aged just 16. Joe was taken from us in unexpected circumstances and he is missed every day. He was a positive young man, and we want to remember him in a positive way by raising money for the air ambulance.
Joe was a popular young man, both in school (Barming Primary, Aylesford Secondary) and at home. He had a wide circle of friends in and out of school, as well as in his football club (Barming Youth) and cricket club (Maidstone Mote). Joe was an avid Maidstone United fan and we are holding the match at the Gallagher Stadium on Friday 29th August 2025. Gates open at 6pm, with a talk from the Air Ambulance Service, prior to kick off at 745pm. The teams will be made up of Joe's school, and football mates, as well as other friends. All are welcome. There is a small admission fee and a raffle to raise money.
The Air Ambulance flew Joe to Kings College Hospital to allow valuable time in which his family and friends were able to say goodbye to him. It also meant that Joe's organs could be donated to save other people's lives.
KSS is an independent charity. It costs over £20.4M a year to sustain their world-leading, cutting edge, innovative service and amazingly 88% is donated and raised by the people of Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Your donation means KSS can continue to provide the best care at the worst of times for their patients, and stay at the forefront of pre-hospital critical care.
We miss Joe so much and want to raise money so that other people in this heartbreaking situation can be supported too.
Thank you in advance for donating in Joe's memory.
