Story
Hello!
For those who don’t know me - I’m Jemma, 38, a welsh girl based in Manchester. I have a lovely husband, two beautiful children, and a very barky cockapoo.
In February 2024, at the age of 37, I was diagnosed with primary breast cancer. I have no family history or genetic link.
I finished my target treatment in April 2025, after 18 months of surgeries and treatments - including 12 rounds of chemotherapy, 36 hours of gruelling cold capping to preserve most of my hair, two separate mastectomy and reconstruction surgeries, and a year of three-weekly target therapy injections.
Cancer has taken a lot from me. But it’s also given me the courage to do something I never would’ve considered before SO in November 2025, I’m trekking across the Sahara Desert to raise money for the incredible charity CoppaFeel!
Why CoppaFeel!? CoppaFeel! promotes early detection as key to improving breast cancer survival rates. I found my cancer early because I knew my body and regularly checked for changes. This incredible charity is on a mission to make self-checking normal from a young age, especially among 18 - 24-year-olds. Without that knowledge and awareness, my story could have ended very differently.
🥾 About the Trek 🥾
☀️ On November 8th, 2025, I’ll take part in CoppaTrek! Sahara Desert - a five-day, 100km trek across dunes, valleys, and gorges, averaging seven hours of walking each day in extreme desert heat. ⛺️ We’ll be camping with no electricity, facing freezing nights and sweltering daytime temperatures. 💪 It will push us physically, mentally, and emotionally - and I am here for it.
I’ve pledged to raise £3,000 before I go. Every single pound donated helps CoppaFeel! reach more people with lifesaving awareness about early detection. Your support would mean the world to me as I prepare for this challenge!
🎂 Boob-themed baking bonus!
As a cheeky incentive: 🧁 Donate £50 - I’ll make you 12 boob cupcakes 🎂 Donate £100 - I’ll bake you a personalised cake of your choice
Finally, if you’ve got any good UK hiking suggestions or fancy joining me on a training trek - I’d love the company! 🥾
Thank you so much for your generosity and support.
Jemma xx
