Help Little Black Cats Like Ebony Get the Care They Deserve

Frome Catsprotection is raising money for Cats Protection
We share our lives with cats. They bring happiness to millions of us every day. Yet too many cats don’t get the care and kindness they deserve. At Cats Protection we stand up for every cat to make life better for cats and the people who care for them.

Story

In our care, we currently have a tiny black kitten with a very big challenge. She was born with, or caught as a baby, the feline herpes virus. Sadly, the infection has scarred her eye permanently.

She’s under the care of a specialist ophthalmologist, and right now she needs very costly eye drops five times a day. She’s due to go back for review in early October, but we already know her eye will never fully heal. If the scarring causes her further pain, the next step will be removal of the eye.

Despite all this, one of our amazing fosterers says that ‘she is full of life and love.’ 💜

Like so many black kittens, though, she faces another hurdle: finding a forever home. Recent research shows black cats wait three times longer to be adopted than tabbies, and they are also much more likely to come into rescue care. It’s heartbreaking, but true — colour and misconceptions too often stand in the way of these wonderful cats being chosen.

Please support us by donating, Every contribution helps cover her expensive treatment, ongoing vet bills, and the day-to-day care of cats in our branch.

With your help, we can ensure this brave little kitten — and others like her — get the medical care, love and second chance they deserve.

Should we be lucky to raise above target, all extra donations will go towards the care of other cats in our volunteer run branch.

Cats Protection help more cats than any other organisation and we want to help millions more. We are a dedicated community of passionate employees, volunteers, supporters and partners, working together to make life better for millions of cats and the people who care for them.

We are the voice of cats in society and we speak up for their protection.

We’re working towards a society where every cat is treated with kindness and respect.

Making a better life for cats, because life is better with cats.
