Story
We’re raising money for CAYSH, a London-based charity that has supported vulnerable and homeless young people aged 16–25 since 1981.
CAYSH helps young people facing homelessness, family breakdown, and serious life challenges to move forward with safe housing, practical support and hope for the future.
Why This Fundraising Matters
For many young people in Croydon, homelessness isn’t a choice; it’s a crisis moment.
It can mean:
Suddenly leaving home
Nowhere safe or stable to live
Disrupted education or work
Poor mental well-being and low confidence
Without the right support, these moments can shape a young person’s life for years.
CAYSH steps in early, and that intervention changes outcomes.

A volunteer mentoring programme supporting homeless young people into training and employment.
Many CAYSH young people have experienced trauma, disrupted education and low confidence. This programme provides:

Confidence-building
Wellbeing support
Help gaining and sustaining work
Strengthening not just individuals, but the local community too.
Supporting Mental Wellbeing
CAYSH provides counselling specifically designed for young people, responding to growing mental health needs in Croydon.
The service offers a safe, non-judgemental space where young people can:
Talk openly
Understand their emotions
Build self-belief
Develop healthier coping strategies
As one CAYSH counsellor explains, it’s about creating trust, safety and a voice, often for the first time.
Life Skills for Independence
Young people are supported through life skills workshops and one-to-one guidance, covering practical steps toward independent living, from managing daily responsibilities to setting personal goals.
This support helps young people move forward with confidence, not fear.
