This year I will be running the Berlin Marathon on behalf of The Institute of Cancer Research.

A charity that is close to my heart. Not only has cancer affected my family but thousands of others. It is my mum's 10 year anniversary this March and with that in mind I wanted to raise as much as I can to support this great cause and what the charity does in finding treatments and ultimately make discoveries that defeat cancer.

As many of you reading this may have met my mum, you knew how active she was. In her younger years she used to run a lot of marathons with my grandparents following her every step of the way around the UK and Europe.

She was a coach for women's football across schools and college's, engaging and raising awareness for the sport at a time where it wasn't as big as it is now. Being one of the first females to be awared the UEFA B coaching licence and still continued on coaching throughout her treatment. An inspiration to us all and my role model throughout my whole life.

That being said this will be my first ever marathon, it is something I have always wanted to do and I will be thinking about my mum every step of the way. I'm sure my limits will be tested within my training programme as my focus will be solely on completing the marathon with a set time in mind.
