🚶‍♂️ From Manchester to Blackburn — walking together to build a legacy of dignity, compassion, and care.

Assalamu Alaikum,

On Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November, we will be taking part in a special fundraising walk from Heaton Park, Manchester, to Masjid al-Momineen, Blackburn.

This is more than just a walk. It is a journey of sacrifice and Sadaqah Jaariyah, raising vital funds to establish the Blackburn Muslim Funeral Centre.

When a loved one passes away, ensuring their final rites are carried out with dignity and care is a communal obligation. Yet, many families across Blackburn and the surrounding areas face difficulties during these deeply emotional moments due to a lack of dedicated local funeral facilities.

The Blackburn Muslim Funeral Centre will serve residents across our borough, regardless of their background, ethnicity, or affiliation.

The Centre will consist of:

- Dedicated Ghusl and Kafan facilities — ensuring the deceased are washed and shrouded with dignity, privacy, and respect.

- Appropriate cold storage facilities — preserving the deceased with care and dignity.

- Family support areas — offering grieving relatives a peaceful space to gather and pray.

- Accessible community services — supporting families across Blackburn, regardless of their financial circumstances or background.

As we make our way from Heaton Park, Manchester, to Masjid al-Momineen in Blackburn, every step will represent a commitment to building something that will benefit generations to come.

Imagine the reward of contributing to a facility where our loved ones can be cared for with dignity, where grieving families can find support, and where an essential community need can be fulfilled.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “When a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity), knowledge which is beneficial, or a righteous child who prays for them.” (Sahih Muslim)
