Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are participating in the Great North Run 2024, a half marathon event, to raise funds for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity. The Children’s Appeal aims to raise £1 million to create a bright, friendly, and appealing environment for all children visiting our hospital. Our goal is to give every child their own special place, ensuring a dedicated safe space for children and young people in distress and providing parents of very young children with comfortable facilities to stay together.

Every year, our Children’s services at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust treat over 10,000 children ranging from one-day-old to 19-years-old. They receive care for various conditions such as breathing difficulties, broken limbs, and mental health conditions. With your support, we can make a difference in the lives of these children and their families.

The improvements we want to make include virtual ceiling panels that simulate daytime sunny blue skies and twinkle with thousands of shining stars at night. We also aim to provide reclining chairs for every parent so they can stay close to their little ones. Additionally, we want to create a break-out zone where parents can share a cuppa with other mums and dads and find comfort in one another during this tough time.

For older children, we plan on having TVs and games consoles while younger children will benefit from stimulating new play equipment. We understand the importance of play in promoting well-being among children.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast, and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, your money will go directly to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity.

Please join me in making a difference today by donating towards this cause. Together, we can create an inclusive environment where all children feel safe and have access to the best possible care and experience from the moment they arrive at our hospital.
