Story
Graham and I are taking on the Lakeland 50 on 27th July. This is a 50 mile, hilly challenge and far longer than either of us have ever run/ walked before. We have chosen to split any money are able to raise between two charities - Epickidz is the nominated event charity and a worthy cause supporting activities such as outdoor adventure days for primary school children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Secondly, Parkinson’s Africa. We have been involved in research in Tanzania since 2005, both living there whilst I completed my MD. Seeing how much of a difference it can make enabling a diagnosis for someone who was not aware they had this illness, accessing treatment and educating patients and families was a huge privilege. Since then, we have developed research links with 7 African countries and helped set up a Global Health Research Group named Transforming Parkinson’s Care in Africa. The Parkinson’s Africa charity helps to support and run patient and carer support groups, fight for access to sustainable and affordable drug treatment and raise awareness of the condition across the continent. We’d be delighted to support this charity and motivate our legs to keep us going, through the night, this weekend. Thank you for reading and we are grateful for any and all donations
