Gavin's Triathlon World Champs fundraiser for Pancreatic Cancer UK

Gavin Pollock is raising money for Pancreatic Cancer UK
In memory of Kathryn Pollock

World Championships Sprint Triathlon, Pontevedra Spain · 24 September 2026

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

My amazing sister Kathryn passed away in May 2026. She was diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer in early 2024.

I will be racing at the World Championships Sprint Triathlon (Age group 45-49) in Pontevedra Spain and I'm going to use this opportunity to raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK. It's an awful cancer and goes undiagnosed often until near the end, which makes it so much more destructive.

Kathryn was always positive, optimistic and felt blessed to have the time that she had when half of people with pancreatic cancer die within three months of diagnosis.

She was incredibly lucky to have excellent care in Basel, Switzerland and the support of her partner David. We miss her so much.

I started doing Triathlon 2.5 years ago at the same time as her diagnosis, and she was so supportive and interested and came along the journey with me as I improved, got focused, and then managed to qualify for Team GB. I will never forget my training runs along Basel river every time I was there to see her.

Acora will be sponsoring my place to go to World Champs #togetherwewin
