Story
Selfless is a diaspora-led social enterprise with a mission to create effective, sustainable solutions to the most pressing global health challenges through using the power of diaspora networks, ‘skillanthropy’ (skills-based volunteering) and social and technological innovation.
Their programmes provide direct benefits through local healthcare provision and capacity-building in some of Bangladesh’s most vulnerable communities as well as indirect benefits of educational empowerment and skills development for international healthcare volunteers.
As of October 2023, Selfless has directly benefited over 50,000 people in rural Bangladesh through the running of rural health camps, as well as supporting 200+ mothers through safer neonatal care and restored 200+ peoples sight.
This year I will be going with Selfless to Bangladesh for their Global Health Leadership Programme. This is an incredible opportunity for me to learn from healthcare professionals in low resource settings and to provide support to the health programmes Selfless are running in Bangladesh. All money raised will go directly to helping fund the rural health camps for people in Bangladesh.
For my fundraising I will aim to be walk at least 100 miles a month until I go to Bangladesh in July. Friends, if you would like to join me for one of my walks, please let me know!!!
