Story
In 2020, at a time when fear and uncertainty gripped our communities, a small group of people came together with a simple purpose: to help. That moment gave birth to Sew Positive. Fifty volunteers gave their time, care, and skills to sew over 14,000 face masks, raising £40,000 for the NHS. What began as an emergency response quickly revealed something deeper the power of creativity to comfort, connect, and heal.
As the pandemic faded, the need did not. Isolation, poor mental health, and financial hardship continue to affect countless people in our communities. Sew Positive evolved to meet that reality, using sewing and creativity to support mental health, mindfulness, and sustainability. For many, our sessions are not just about learning a skill they are a lifeline.
We work with people who are unemployed, struggling with mental health, experiencing discrimination, coping with family breakdowns, living in unsuitable housing, facing financial hardship, or missing out on education. Many arrive feeling alone, anxious, or forgotten. Through a safe, welcoming creative space, they find connection, purpose, and a sense that they matter. Friendships are formed, confidence is rebuilt, and loneliness is eased—sometimes for the first time in years.
As I prepare for the London Marathon on April 26th, 2026, I carry these stories with me. This run is not just a physical challenge; it is a way to stand beside those who are struggling quietly every day. I am aiming to raise £2,500 to ensure Sew Positive can continue offering support, materials, and safe spaces to those who desperately need them.
Your support can help someone feel less alone. It can help keep our doors open, our machines running, and our community connected. Together, we can stitch hope back into lives that have been stretched to breaking point.
24-Hour Mile Challenge – Easter Weekend
Starting at 12:00pm on Saturday 4th April (Easter Weekend) at The Leys School, I will be running 1 mile at the top of every hour for 24 hours around the school grounds.
This challenge is to raise money for Sew Positive, the charity I am proud to be running the London Marathon for.
