Gabriella's fundraiser for Bromley & Croydon Women's Aid

Brighton Half Marathon 2024 · 25 February 2024 ·
I have set myself the challenge to run the Brighton Half Marathon 2024 in support for Bromley and Croydon Womens Aid. BCWA is a charity very close to my heart as they supported both myself and family though a tough time.
Domestic Abuse is not something any human should ever have to endure. However, domestic abuse will affect 1 in 4 women in their lifetime, with young people aged 16 to 25 most at risk.
Through my own research and knowledge I would like to provide some information and support for domestic abuse victims and survivors.
The abuse that you are or have been receiving does NOT have to be just physical for it to impact you or be ‘defined’ as abuse. Forms of abuse can include (but not limited to): coercive control, economic abuse, use of male privelage, intimidation, emotional abuse, isolation, gaslighting and many other behaviours including physical violence.
Help is available for you or anyone you know who is experiencing abuse: In an EMERGENCY:
- Police or Ambulance service – 999.
- Samaritans – 24 hours 116 123.
- NON-URGENT Support:
- Refuge – freephone 24-hour helpline (0808 2000 247), provide a safe and emergency accommodation.
- Woman’s Aid – live chat online or email, available 10am to 6pm 7 days a week.
- Safe Spaces – works with a variety of pharmacies to provide a safe and discreet environment to access help.
- Claire’s Law – if you have any concerns that your partner has an abusive past, you have the right to ask the police for your partners records in which they will disclose information to you if they believe you are at risk.
There is no excuse for domestic abuse, end the abuse against women and children now.
Without the support of incredible people like you, we wouldn't be able to change the lives of thousands of women and their children suffering from domestic abuse. Thank you, Gabriella <3 x
