Running the Big Half for the British Psychotherapy Foundation
Once a year, I ask everyone I know to part with some money while I do something unnecessarily energetic for a good cause. This year, I’m running The Big Half and hoping to raise £1,000 for the British Psychotherapy Foundation (BPF).
This one is particularly important to me.
Psychotherapy has been a significant part of my own life. I know first hand the difference that having the space to understand yourself, your experiences and the patterns that shape your life can make. Good psychotherapy can be challenging, uncomfortable and transformative, and access to properly trained, thoughtful practitioners is really important and a healthy practice for everyone.
That is why I’m raising money for the BPF. The BPF has a long history of training psychotherapists and supporting high quality psychotherapy, as well as helping make therapeutic support available to people who might otherwise struggle to access it. The work they do is exceptional, and it deserves support.
In the interests of full disclosure, I also sit on the BPF’s Audit and Risk Committee. You could reasonably say that makes me biased. I would argue that it gives me a rather privileged view behind the curtain. I get to see the organisation, the people and the seriousness with which they approach their work. I know where the money goes, I know how much people care about getting this right, and I know just how good the people involved are. That makes me even happier to put my trainers on for them.
So, this is my annual request for money in return for a sporting endeavour for a good cause.
I’ll provide the running. You provide the sponsorship.
The target is £1,000. Whether you can spare £5, £10, £25 or something more ambitious, every donation genuinely helps. And if you cannot donate, sharing this page would be hugely appreciated too.
Please get on the bandwagon, sponsor me, and help me get to £1,000 for the BPF.
You have about 2 weeks before you can watch my dot make its way around east and south east London vvveeerrrrryyyy ssslllooowwwlly as I do have rheumatoid arthritis - but it’s the taking part that counts… hint hint!
Family and friends can track me at the Big Half via the Official App, which will be available to download in the week leading up to Event Day.
Thank you. Love, Gabs ❤️
[another disclosure, below pic was made using AI because I hadn’t received the top yet! I can’t guarantee that I will look this good when I eventually get to wear it! 🙃]
