Story
I'm walking a marathon in July to support the valuable work done by PMRGCAuk because I was diagnosed with PMR in 2023 and got involved with the charity soon after. They have been a fantastic resource and support since.
Walking a Marathon in a month is an easy peasy challenge , right? WRONG.
It's a tough 'un. Here's why...
Living with the condition is a daily struggle, because sufferers simply don't have the energy or capability a normal healthy person does. Your life shrinks in ways you never even think of. It's like living with permanent flu.
After struggling to try to work even part time for a few years, recently I've decided to retire very early, because I simply just don't have the energy for basic life AND work at the same time.
So, with a bit more time to hand, this year I've decided to do the PMR GCA Challenge to Walk a Marathon in a Month. I really value your support along the way and so will the charity!
PMRGCA is the only national UK charity dedicated to PMR and GCA. They provide valuable information, support and reassurance to people with either of these conditions and help to raise awareness in the medical world and in the general population so that people can get a speedier diagnosis if they have either of the conditions.
Both conditions are life changing. Without prompt diagnosis and treatment, GCA can cause sudden onset sight loss or stroke. Getting a prompt diagnosis and treatment is vital.
Many thanks!!!
With love
