Story

We all know someone who has faced cancer. I have a dear friend who has been living with it since 2008. I know others who are receiving treatment. And others who have received treatment and are now 'all clear' and sadly others who have not survived.

In the last group are my Mum and Grandmother. Mum was diagnosed only 10 days before she died. The doctors were not able to pick up on what was the problem earlier. So although the hospital did a good job, her last years could have been a lot more comfortable.

Since her death I have supported organisations like Macmillan which help people living with cancer as well as look after them at the end of their lives. Macmillan, along with partner organisations, do a wonderful job at making living with cancer as positive an experience as possible.

When my friend Frankie suggested we do the Mighty Hike, I jumped at the chance. She and I both love walking, so it will be a treat and a challenge. It's been a long time since I did a LONG walk, so I'm in training. I know times are really tough but if you felt you could make a donation that would be wonderful.

Mum was not much of a walker and would probably think me mad! But I also know she would be very proud and supportive with a donation and probably some cake!

Thanks for supporting my fundraising. Macmillan gives people with cancer everything they’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are Macmillan’s worries. Macmillan’s doing whatever it takes. But without your help, Macmillan can’t support everyone who needs them.
