Gareth & Carolyn are taking on the Snowdon climb to raise vital funds and awareness for Action for BPAN, a charity that is incredibly close to our hearts.

Action for BPAN was started by our wonderful friends, Kelly and Nicole—two exceptionally proud and fierce mums to Emily and Isabella. They have worked tirelessly, pouring their hearts into raising awareness and funds to help their daughters and all the other children fighting this incredibly rare disease. As the UK’s first charity for BPAN, they are giving a much-needed voice to a community of wonderful children and parents.

What is BPAN?

BPAN (Beta-propeller protein-associated neurodegeneration) is a rare and devastating condition that impacts every aspect of a child’s life. As iron builds up in the brain, children often lose their ability to walk, talk, and move. They endure complex seizures, severe motor difficulties, and cognitive decline. Tragically, as it progresses, these children develop symptoms of Alzheimer's and Parkinson’s disease—illnesses we usually associate with old age.

Why your support matters:

Action for BPAN is currently working with a world-class research team at UCL and Great Ormond Street Hospital. However, funding for rare diseases is heartbreakingly hard to secure. The fight to find a cure or life-changing treatment relies heavily on the support of friends, family, and kind-hearted donors to keep going.

Every single step we take up Snowdon brings us closer to a cure. We are climbing for Emily, for Isabella, and for every child facing BPAN.
